Aircraft Spirals Uncontrollably into Palm Trees at Frequented California Beach
A helicopter flying near a crowded southern California beach abruptly started spinning out of control, ultimately dropping height and smashing into a row of palm groves as onlookers looked on.
Footage uploaded on social media depict the chopper starting to spin near Huntington Beach then descending near the edge of the coast, where it becomes wedged between palm trees and a staircase close to the coastal road.
Emergency Response Details
The Huntington Beach fire department reported five persons were taken to hospital involving two individuals who were in the helicopter and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the incident on the weekend.
Three individuals on the road were injured. Information on their condition were not immediately available.
The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
